Unfurling Variegation

Monstera deliciosa plants have been incredibly popular among plant addicts, making the more rare variegated varieties very difficult to find. Early in the Spring of 2020 I started to hunt down this plant and found that most were located out of the area and had to be shipped. I luckily found a local rare tropical plant collector that had a Variegated Monstera Albo Borsigiana for sale and within the hour it was living among others in my urban jungle.

The variegated monstera I had just acquired was rooted, had one single leaf with nice variegation, fenestration and one tiny growth point. Within six months five new leaves grew from this monstera, the fifth is the one unfurling in this time-lapse video.

As all you plant addicts are well aware, this was not my only purchase from this tropical plant collector. I soon found out that Nick and Lani grew and collected an incredible collection of rare tropicals and was able to purchase some of their collection before they moved out of the SF Bay Area. If you want to see their amazing collection follow them on IG @ourtropicalplants. This leaf unfurling spanned 5 days and took a little over 9,400 photos to produce this time-lapse.
